My husband and I have just ripped out the walls in an old bathroom, to completely remodel it. As expected (because there was a roof leak until a year ago) the insides of the walls had mildew covering them. I vaccuumed much of it off -- it was dry and came off easily -- but I don't want to seal it up again without knowing that it's gone! The walls of the surrounding rooms are plaster, I believe (a paper backing is what we see now). Should I spray a bleach/water mixture on them, or would this do further damage by making it wet?

Thanks!

The bleach/water solution may be the only way to kill the mold that is there now. Afterwards, be sure it is very dry before covering again. May need blowers/fans & some heat?
