Has anyone seen what happens when a paint sprayer is not fully cleaned after applying an oil based wood stain then switching to painting with latex based paint on the same job?

We started to paint the exterior of our reno house last week. Whole house primed. Brick was painted first with several top coats and good coverage. Later that week the wood trim was receiving its first layer of topcoat. House looked great over the weekend, minus some thin spots and careless over sprays. On Monday our contractor had the painters spray the oil based wood stain on our new porch ceiling while they were there painting touchups and second coat of wood trim. Today (Wednesday) there is oily spots on the carport ceiling, board and batten, soffit, and facia. Basically anywhere another coat of paint was applied the same day the stain was applied there is an issue. Brick looks good still, going back later to check around lunch when sun is shining. Will also get a picture and update this post. Thought?
