I was wondering if anyone had any experience using a Wagner painter for staining a deck. I was considering buying one to stain my deck with a tinted stain but wanted some input from more experienced users first. Thanks for your input.

An airless sprayer can be used to distribute deck stain. The drawback is that stains tend to drift a lot and are hard to control when aerosolized. Since deck stain is so easy to apply with a roller, pad or brush, I have never bothered to spray.

I don't find the handheld buzz guns (power painter) to be useful for very much. If you are looking for an excuse to get an airless sprayer, spend just a little more and get one with a piston pump that extracts paint directly from the pail and delivers to a hose and gun. Wagner makes a Paint Crew piston pump airless that looks far superior to the power painters (Wideshot series). I use a Spray-Tech EP2105 which is a professional quality tool.
