Building a new house and want to surprise the wife with a nice range/oven. I see Maytag has a double oven unit out. Anybody have experience with them?

Are the double ovens really worth the extra money? We are family of 4 and I can't see using both at same time all too often, but thought maybe if we had it we would. I know my wife would bake more with a nicer oven but it wouldn't necesarily have to be a double oven.

If your talking about the Maytag Gemini free-standing double oven range, I have no personal experience with using them but these are my impressions.

The main lower oven would be too low for me to use on a regular basis. It looks like stooping would be involved getting things in and out of it. The upper smaller oven looks perfect for TV dinners and frozen pizza, etc. if your family cooks lots of them.

** want to surprise the wife **

I would humbly suggest you don't but instead allow her a choice in selection if you expect her to use it with enthusiasm. Also, generally speaking appliances don't make good Mothers Day presents if that's what you had in mind.
