Hello all-

I'm planning to get a lot (1500 sq ft) of brazilian cherry hardwood flooring installed in my home and am concerned about the matching between the new flooring and my current wood molding. So far the only options I have thought of are replacing the current pine molding (stained kind of like oak) with perhaps a maple molding (if I can find it) or otherwise paint the molding.

What is the usual thing to do? If I was to paint the molding, what would I need to do to the wood before? Sanding?

Thanks for all your help. Oh and if you need pictures to help, let me know.

Hi Chris,
You can use the pine moldings that you have now. The mix of woods is a common thing. Lightly sanding the wood, priming and painting is the way to go. Good luck. Mark Hammond
