I was cleaning the stove top and under the burners this morning and all of the sudden the stove starts beeping and flashing an F1 code. It is the day before Thanksgiving and I was going to spend the day baking. Plus, I have a turkey and ham to cook tomorrow. What happened and how do I fix it? This is an emergency. Thanks.

** Kenmore stove **

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number. If you post it we can at least look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

** [after cleaning] the stove starts beeping and flashing F1 **

On most makes of ranges an F1 fault code usually indicates a problem in the electronic control. If disconnecting power from the appliance for a couple of minutes doesn't clear the code, some part of the appliance would usually have to be replaced to correct the condition.

On some range designs a F1 fault code can also be caused by a problem in the control's keypad. If you "cleaned" it, it might just have residual moisture still in it in which case a hair dryer might be able to be used to dry it out. Don't melt it though!
