I want to build a bar in my basement, but don't know tons about doing it. I would apreciate any tips that you can send my way. My other question is if i don't havea table saw, how can i get my edges straight. Im not that good at cutting straight lines with any saw, so that would bee a problem, help if you can. Thanks

If you have a circular saw you can get a rip fence for it that guides the saw from a cut edge or better yet if you need to make sure you piece is perfectly square use a board or piece of metal as guide.

As far as designing a bar you will probably have to look through a few magazines for ideas. Every bar is different so I don't think you're going to find a set of plans.

There are some basic bar plans in many different areas on the web. One such site is which boasts simple (free) plans for a personal wet bar. Another (more elaborate) site is located at Try searching for "building a bar" in any of the popular search engines and you should come up with many great resources.

Thanks guys, this is helping. Anyoth tips, or other things that might help? Another thing, i want to put up a mirror behind it, and have shelfs on it, what is the bestway/best looking way to put the shelfs on? Another thing, if i wanted to add a little shelf all along the edge of the bar, what is the best looking way to do this?
