My mother in law had new gutters installed and was bamboozled into buying the gutter filter type device. The name was gutter stuff, but it is identical to the gutter filter.
IT DOES NOT WORK!
The product is junk and has been removed. The manufacturer and installer will not stand behind the product. The filters have been removed and my mother in law has now moved on to the State's board of consumer affairs. I logged on to learn more about the gutter brush, but had to chime in so other home owners aren't subjected to this product, and the company's poor service. I don't know if the Gutter Filter and the Gutter Stuff are made by the same mfg, but visit the websites and draw your own conclusions. They appear to be identical.
This caused severe ice build up, and subsequent water damage.
Best of luck to anyone researching these products, and I would welcome any feedback regarding the gutter brush.
some of you are making a big mistake about leaf filter, it is not a foam at all, i looked at the web site to find it somewhat amazing, stainless steel micro filter that will block all the junk. why are puting it down when you are talking about gutter foam or gutter stuff or the same crap with another name to it. foam will be foam, covers will be covers and leaf filter is its own. see for yourself.
I had Jeff Corcorran of RainTube of Houston install the RainTube product in my gutters and am very happy with the results. The house is surrounded by pines, oaks and pecan.
Since we just lived through Hurricane Ike, there were a ton of branches, leaves and such everywhere, but the RainTube performed wonderfully.
Water flowed without any hint of clogging, while the neighbors across the street lost their gutters - clogged with debris, the weight of wet muck combined with the winds ripped their gutters and facia off, exposing the rafters. Ouch.
I'd highly recommend RainTube to anyone considering purchasing gutter protection. I shopped around Houston and found this to be the most cost effective product on the market.
I actually installed a gutter guard system myself. It is a stainless steel mesh guard called Gutterglove Gutterguard. I was shocked with how easy it was to install. It lets nothing through it but water, so we never have to clean it. I love having it on my home because now I know there will be no damage to it from clogged overflowing guttters and my husband and i never have to take the time to clean it. I found it at www.gutterglove.com. Well worth the investment!
When i purchased my house, one of the selling points was the gutter protection system that was installed, it was combination of the brush thing and then the plastic covers over that, so it seemed like a good idea, two gutter products that both claim that they never clog, however in the spring i soon found out that it was not only a failure but a premiere nesting cite for mesquites and wasps. after calling several pushy salesmen i did a bit of my own research.... I found a comprehensive review of all the products by http://ncreview.org, and there pick is gutter glove, I had the thing put in and it has been working flawlessly, the cost was a bit higher that the other products but was very reasonable however having the product actually work is better than paying a bit less and having the thing replaced anyway. the link to the review is: http://gutter-comparison-protection-covers-review.ncreview.org/ -Kevin
