I just purchased a Craftsman 6 1/8 " bench top jointer/planer. After setting it up, checking the infeed and outfeed to make sure sure that my steel edge touched evenly across the length of the table, squaring by fence to the tables, I started testing the new jointer/planer. I take a reasonably straight edged board and run it through the jointer, it always gets about half way through and then I can feel it rock up. I have tryed everything and all I can get is a tapered board. I've gone through the manual and everything seems to be correct on the machine. I have used similar machines before and never had this problem. Does anyone have an idea as to what it is that I am doing wrong. I getting a little frustrated. I would really appreciated any suggestions that you might have... thanks

I have the floor model 6 1/8 Craftsman unit and had the same problem to begin with. What I discovered on mine was that the out feed table was not set corectly. Once I got it set so that it was the proper height to match the cut of the blades I have eliminated the problem. I just used some scrap and worked on the out feed table adjustment. Hope this helps.

That's right. The blades are set too high
