Lately I been thinking about staring my own bussiness as an independent contractor for Masonry, drywall, roofing and framing. even though I am not an expert on any of these fields I thing I can do it, since I know the poeple who knows each of these jobs well and a few biulders. I just need a little advice, and I am open to suggestions.

I have a few questions.

1. how do I charge for Masonry do I go by each thousand or is there other way. both brick and blocks.

2. Framing do I charge by squre foot or is there other way.

3. Drywall or drywall have no idea

4. Roofing have no idea

If anybody knows of any software or book that might be of some help please advice or where can I go to get information in my city. I live in Atlanta GA Thank you!

My suggestion is to find another line of work.

The construction trades are already too full of people like yourself who are not 'experts' and produce shoody and less than professional work and muddy the waters for those who are.

And just because you know people in each of these trades does not mean that you know what they do or ever will.

Understanding how to bid and price jobs comes from experience and technical expertise about in each trade along with business savvy.

Since you apparently have little or not enough experience in any trade field and little or not enough experience in business, you'll just be another of the myriad of unqualified and shoddy workmen who have no understanding about their craft or building codes and who try to bluff their way through by taking advantage of unsuspecting customers. And it will be your customer's who suffer when your business goes down the toilet because you have no clue about how to run one.

Attorney Generals' offices, state contractor licensing agencies, and professional tradesmen who care about their industry already have their hands full trying to keep gypsies out of the business.

Best all around to find another line of work.
