I still couldn't get over just how cheap Stilhaus Kitchens are. I was a bit dubious but I didn't pay until after delivery so I had nothing to lose

As per the instructions and tools issued by Trex, I installed a 45' X 20' deck along with a built in hot tub. This was in 2007. Some of the sections began to deteriorate, yes, right in the middle of the faded deck in 2012. I replaced them with some extra I had set aside, not trusting the claims of the Company, and it is a good thing I did. If anyone else has this problem, instead of trying to deal with a batch of boneheads getting the junk replaced, try laying down some outdoor carpeting. Drill some ¾" holes in it first so the water doesn't pool, use a good adhesive and cover the entire deck with a high grade Outdoor carpet. Astro-Turf works great and looks excellent for many more years than the Trex will. The Trex rep here in ******* **** Oregon was so embarrassed about the look of my deck, he quit the Company from what I hear. I now have two decks covered in carpeting. One more plus to covering it, the wasps and hornets can't crawl up between the slats and zap you. As for the rep I see here on this blog, you are pathetic.

In this case offering to come out this spring and clean it for us, but we were to keep natural cleaner on a small section first before doing a wide open spot in the middle.

When I moved into my house it had older Trex decking that had not been maintained for several years. Evergreen needles and leaves had been simply left there. On top of that, I'm in the Pacific Northwest where mold & mildew is a way of life so the deck was very stained.

It took a lot of work, but I was able to get it looking almost new. The trick was to scrub it with a mixture of 30-Second Deck Cleaner (diluted per label)with some Simple Green added. Work in small sections so that the solution doesn't dry. Spray on with a generic garden tank sprayer & let stand for 30 seconds or so, then scrub it down with a stiff scrub brush (I used one with a broom handle to stay on my feet) and rinse with clear water. You want to start with dry decking, so try to keep the scrubbed sections moist by misting with clear water until you finish a larger area before rinsing.
