Has anyone experience with professionally refinished bathtubs? How long does the new surface last? Disadvantages?

In the business here over thirty years have never been an advocate of refinishing tubs until 8-10 years ago when the products used in the finishing became much more durable..Most folks make the mistake of scrubbing the tub with dutch cleanser which is like using sand paper on the finish and usually is what caused the original glaze to disappear. Im for the new refinishing. erik

If I was to sell a home and could careless how long the finish would last (after is it is sold) then by all means do it.

If you plan on keeping the home and want to add value to your investment replace the tub with the acrylic type or good old enameled cast iron

I have only been doing plumbing for about 48 years and cannot count how many refinished tubs have failed within 4 -8 years

Enamel is baked on even on the very cheap steel tubs , how does one bake an installed tub properly?
