my daughter in college was recently charged $307 for replacement of a complete toilet because a plumber pulled a part of a hanger out of it. this was a beat up old toilet that was there when she moved in.

so 2 questions:

1. if you pulled a part of a hanger out of a toilet, would that be reason enough to replace a whole toilet?

2. my daughter says she didn't put anything like a hanger in the toilet. she has lived in the apartment for around 9 months. could that partial hanger have been in the toilet before she moved in?

any help would be appreciated.

If he pulled it out I don't see why the toilet had to be replaced.

He was a rip-off. He should have gotten your daughters ok 1st, before replacing the toilet.

Maybe it was a scam, perhaps not....I think anyone making a judgement whether the work was warranted or not with the information twice-removed and possibly biased, is irresponsible. erik

hey guys thanks for the replies. what is so frustrating is that this company did the work without any input from my daughter or myself. the property management company was both judge and jury.

it appears that the toilet was removed before the stoppage was pulled from the plumbing.
