We replaced our toilet and experienced a leak at the base after using two wax rings... so re-installed it with one extended ring... still leaking, and a third time with two rings again... and you guessed it, it still has a small leak of water out of the base. We did not replace the ring or screws on the floor, but treed more wax, less wax, ued straws to line the screws up... Will the leak eventually go away?? Could the toilet be defective? Is that common - it looks OK... What are we doing wrong? Any suggestions hugely appreciated!!!

Add food coloring to water. Do not flush. Wait for about 15 minutes and look around under tank - where it attaches to the bowl. If not leaks are seen, then flush. You may have to add food coloring a few times to get an idea of where the leak is coming from. Next, take off the bowl and look to see where the coloring has flowed. That will be where your leak is. Most likely - based on the trouble with the wax seal is the mounting flange is too low or too far away from the base of the bowl. You may have to add a flange extension to get the proper height. One seal is all it should take. It the food coloring has stained the bottom of the bowl area. There could be a slight crack or some debris on the bowls wax ring adapter.
