My house has a "truss" roof. The horizontal stringer that runs the length of the truss is a 2x6. A remodel project requires removal of a section of this 2x6. Can I do this safely? How do I reinforce the stringer or "sister" on another before I cut out the pieces that are in my way?? Any help would be appreciated.

A roof truss is an engineered product with all of the different pieces and connections designed to work together.

Any changes need to be engineered.

If stamps on it show the company that made it they are the best ones to go to.
