We are remodeling our kitchen and we decided to put the range in a different location. Well unfortunately when we were trying to drill a hole to run the gas line, we discovered that the line couldn't be close enough to the wall to prevent the range from sitting too far out in the floor. So the line will have to be run next to the stove. I suggested that the cabinets next to the range will just have to be cut so that the gas line fit, but no one will notice. We will just lose a small amount of cabinet space. That didn't go over too well with my husband who just wants to leave a gap between the range and the cabinets, but the gas line will be showing. My husband thinks its dangerous to have the gas line inside of the cabinet. (which I think is ridiculous) A cooktop is not an option. Does anyone have any suggestions on a work around?

Offset the countertop from the cabinets so that the countertop is close to the stove and fill the gap in front with a piece of board stained or painted like the front of your cabinets
