I'm trying to figure out where the difference in floor board heating bills is coming from between the Twin Cities (MN) and Bozeman MT. For several years in two apts/condos, small and relatively large, the Xcel Energy bill in the TC was about $30-35 in winter, temperature being kept around 70F. In MT, I've run into sticker shock while looking for a place. In similar size units and types of building insulation, people commonly report $200/month or more electric in winter, $50 in summer (I checked with a couple of electricians also). I'm trying to figure out what's driving the difference. Assume the meters are correct and being read correctly, and that MN rates are 8.1c/kWhr, while MT is 10.2c. Anyone have some ideas what might be creating the difference? Thanks.
