How close together do kitchen small appliance outlets need to be?

If they serve a counter, they should be placed so that no point (as measured at the rear of the counter) is more than 2 feet from a receptacle. There must be a receptacle for any counter space 12" wide or wider.

If they are regular wall receptacles near the floor, then no point shall be further than 6 feet from a receptacle and any wallspace 24" wide or wider requires a receptacle.
