I have a spa that I have been trying to calculate what the costs of running are. I'm in the Philly area, and Peco is my provider, so the electric costs about 12c/kwhr.

(I also have RT, off peak metering where i pay more at peak and less if off, which I like)

The unit has 11.5 HP(3 motors), but it only runs 20 minutes. Or sometimes 3 cycles which equals 1 hour for simplicity. It is 500 gallon. (I do have it outside, but extra insulated, on all sides, yes including 4" below as well as sides and top.)

So my 2 mail questions, if you are so inclined to help me reason this out, are: 1) What does it cost to run for 1 hour at regular rates.

2) what does it cost to bring the temp up from 70 to 95degrees?

(When I get in I raise it from 95 to 98, so I guess that should be considered as part of the pump running, but I don't always.) Also, I don't always have to raise the temp that much, that is really only in January. Other than this splurge in energy, my house is super insulated(R-50 in most walls, and carbon footprint is low with, CFL, LED, carpooling etc.

Thanks for any help, Mike copy me direct too.
