Hello,

Im finishing my basement and started the drywall taping and spackling last night. I bought a book on it, and the book says after you tape the seems, let it dry before applying another coat. Ive read on the internet that after you tape the seems, go back right away an apply a thin coat. I didnt do this, I went with letting it dry overnight and I will apply another coat tonight...will this mean I have to add 4 coats to my taped seems, or can my 2nd coat be the coat to cover the tape. Thanks for all the help.

well you'll have to see how the tape made out after drying.........that second pass after installing the tape really presses it flat to the drywall imbedding it in the compound .......minimizing bumps in the seam..........Before adding more compound........check to see how flat the joint is and correct (sand/scrape) before building out any more...........But you should be fine...........doug
