Is it better to paint walls first and then trimwork, or paint the trim and mask it off before painting the walls?

I have seen a lot of proffesional painters painting the trim first and then the walls when the trim is white and the walls are dark color as they say you can a straighter line around your trim when done this way. The trim will need to be taped off when done this way. If the walls and trim are shades of white you paint the walls first and then the trim.
Good luck.
