I need help, I believe I saw a show on TV where ceramic bathroom tile was being painted. I just moved and don't like the color of tile in the bathroom. I want to paint it, but am not sure it can be painted. Any responses would be appreciated.

Thank you Anutpatty835@aol.com

IF...and only IF the tiles ARE NOT IN THE TUB OR SHOWER AREA CAN YOU PAINT THEM.

Tiles that don't get wet all the time should be cleaned well - alcohol works well.

Prime with Glidden Ultra-Hide Gripper - then topcoat with Glidden Evermore or Ultra-Hide Latex Semigloss.

If your tiles are in the tub or shower area - have them removed - and start again.

You can have the tile in the shower area painted but it takes a special paint and most companies that refinish bath tubs also do tile refinishing and it will cheaper than tearing out your tile.

Hi! I don't know if it is available in your area, but I used Klenk's epoxy enamel 9 years ago to paint the tiles on the floor of my mudroom, and the paint is still holding, except that because of the traffic, it is not as shiny as it was when I applied it. This product is a two part epoxy paint that you mix prior to application, and it hardens in 24 hours. I don't know if you will find it in your area, because it is made in Montreal, Canada, but I am pretty sure that you will find something similar, but I would go to a real paint store, not a home center. Also, I applied my paint with a foam roller, and the result is about as smooth as the original surface of the tile. Hope this helps you, and good luck!

Wolley..........good thought! Hadn't occured to me ...........

Klenk's is made by ICI Paints (Glidden) and is available at The Home Depot.

It would work well on tiles in a bathroom
