HELP!!! I have began tearing up the carpet in my house to redo the hardwood floors under. In front of the bathroom I have found dry water damaged boards. They are not rotten but are stained. Also they are not splintering. Is there anything I can do to return moisture to the boards they are gapping in the seems. Also is there anything I can do for the holes caused by the staples from the carpet pad?

For the holes, you would use a filler prior to staining the floor.

You must first get the floor sanded, fill the holes and stain. Remember, real wood floors are not meant to look perfect, so I wouldn't worry about the water spots.
