I am going to lay the no glue locking wood laminate in my kitchen, but it has 20+ year old peel and stick vinyl squares. Do I have to remove this or can I put the wood laminate on top? thanks

last spring we put the floating, no glue, locking laminate flooring over glued down vinyl tiles in our children's bedrooms. there were a few small areas where the tiles had "broken" spots which we filled to level first. so far, so good.
