I have been told that it is not needed to use padding or stretching carpet in a low traffic area like a bedroom. I also was told that it is perfectly acceptable to glue the carpet down versus using strips. Any tips out there for gluing carpet straight to the floor? What about gluing carpet to steps? Good idea or bad? Thanks.

well, the only carpet that should be glued down without pad, is a low pile commercial or berber carpet.

But I like just a tad bit more comfort when I wake up :)
