Until recently, I was unaware that one could get a custom modular home. I found a modular center dot com website that listed a couple of supposedly "renowned" modular designers, but I thought their fees were extremely high ($2,500 minimum!) considering the final cost of the house. Then, I found another company (Custom-Wise.com) that has prices about a fourth of that. Both companies seem to offer the same quality of work, at least what I can see from the drawings on their sites, in fact, I was more impressed by the lower priced one. But how does one go about choosing a modular designer? I guess what I'm asking is this: Could the higher priced architect be charging me for extra work that I don't really need to have done, considering the fact that much of the way the construction's done is predetermined by the manufacturer?
