Personaly, I would paint with a rich red...to bring zest to the room and complement the great mahogany. If you have a more conservitive palete I suggest a forest green. But depending on the sizes and how well lit the rooms are, those color choices may prove too dark and claustrophobic (sorry I can't spell if my life depended on it!) And in that case a misty sage could work to your advantage; brightens it up and looks great with oak...

a pumpkin colour...Ben Moore has a Soft Pumpkin thats gorgeous...I'm not sure if I would do red, myself that is, but if not the pumpkin then a sage colour, depends on if you like pizazz or calm affects
