HOT gas range

The gas oven in my *new* house does not heat food up properly. Takes almost 2 hrs to bake a potato. Meanwhile, even after being turned on for a short time, the top of the range gets VERY hot to the touch.

Is there something I can do to fix this before I have to drop $100 for the home warranty folks to come look at it?

Did you ever find out what was wrong? I recently bought a house and the 3 year old gas stove came with it. Same problem you are describing. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's a Tappan Self-Cleaning Gas Oven
Model # 30-3991-00/01

Also the top burners work great, it is just the oven part that takes FOREVER to preheat and then twice as long to cook. THANKS!!
