Hi all...recently purchased a townhouse/condo and want to utilize the garage differently. In order to accomplish my mission - I need to make an entry through a single layer cinderblock wall. Any ideas on the best way to blow through that cinderblock to make a doorway - without damaging the blocking I need to keep?

Tanks in advance for all input!

First thing I would suggest is a building permit and some research. That block wall may well be a firewall and require a one or two hour rated door. The installation of that door will be special too in order to maintain the rating.

Cutting the wall will be dusty unless you use a water wheel but that is messy for interior work.

The least expensive is a simple cold chisle and two poumd hammer

Thanks for you reply Piffin....The wall is not structural, nor is it a firewall.... and I was a bit hesitant on the permit considering it's a garage and I'd be framing out and soundproofing the interior for a music studio.

Any tips regarding the cold chisel approach?

Thanks very much!
