We have gable end vents with thermostatic fans in each end. We have soffit vents...would it be advantageous to add ridge vents too?

I wouldn't add ridge vents until you are ready to reroof your house, but adding ridge vents would suck cool air in from the soffit vents and the natural hot air would rise and escape through your ridge vents. If you have gable end vents that natural rise of heat isn't working like it should be. Your fan is probably blowing more than it should be. And on some days when the sun is out, but the temp is cool the fan may not even turn on because it is so close to the cool air.
If the fans work well I wouldn't worry until you reroof.
Are both fans pointing out? What happens if they both turn on at the same time?
