We are planning on having an above ground pool installed. We lost a tree in the hurricane and had the stump ground out. The problem is that the area where the tree stump was has always held water. We have dug all the roots out and filled the space, but the ground is very soft. If you stand on it, you sink in places and in other places the ground moves under your weight. What can I do to make the ground solid for the pool installation? Should I remove the "mud" and replace with dry dirt? Please help, I am desperate for an answer.

Thanks
