I am getting replacement glass from the manufacturer (under warranty) as the original glass had moisture in between panes. Current glass thickness is 5/8 inch and as per manufacturer, they do not make 5/8 in thick picture window glass anymore and they will send me 7/8 inch glass with new aluminium glazing bead. These are 1/4 inch thinner than the old ones.
Do you think, there might be any problem in future or I am better off buying exact window from the local market. Glass size is 5x3 ft.
Thanks

Greetings Bvrsr,

I would think (hope) that they will send you the instructions to install it right.

I mean, they are sending you the glass!

What brand and type (wood or vinyl) of window is this?

If wood, I would be very carefull how you attach the stop.

One wrong move and "pow", and you will be ordering the glass again.

Be sure you understand the instructions before you remove the old glass.

Good luck,
Jason

Pay a small fee (Labor)and let their service departmant change it for you. If your not in their service area call a local glass company to change the unit.
Changing "glass only" is not something the average person should try. Their giving you the glass at no cost, if you crack it you will be buying a new unit.
