Should the baseboard trim be primed prior to installation? I assume that it should since the basement floor is a finished concrete and if it is not pre-primed prior to install then there is no way to get the bottom edge which would leave raw wood against (or nearly against) concrete.???

Also, any tips for getting it as level as possible so we can skip the shoe mold since we are going for a more modern look?

This is all being done by professionals, not DIY.

Hi there
Since the base is sitting on concrete it would probably be a good idea to prime the bottom surface.
Due to inconsistency's of concrete, the best way would be to scribe the base to the floor.
Problem is this is more labor intense and very few contractors would do this without an extra charge.
Also many carpenters don't have the patience and know how.
