We pulled up carpeting in our iving room with intention of refinishing the hardwood underneath. We were disappointed to find that each board was nailed down...a nail or two every 15 inches! We have not given up hope of restoration yet! Our plan is to attempt to countersink the nails or try to get as many as possible up...though they are nailed pretty flush to floor...and then fill with wood filler and sand. We would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!!

Hey...I hate when people do that. But they will still be beautiful after you restore them.
If you attempt to pull some nails with a hammer, place a shim or a piece of wood under the barrel of the hammer to avoid denting the surface.
Use a wood filler that hardens instead of one that stays soft.
Thanks and good luck
