Repairing Drywall Seams
I have a recurring problem with drywall ceiling seams where part of a room's ceiling has crawl space above it and part of the ceiling is attached to the bottom of the roof truss. I have properly repaired these seams in the past, removed seam tape and replaceing with mesh followed by feathering with joint compound, but the seams crack again in a couple of years. Please advise if there is a way to make a more lasting repair?
Cut and remove the drywall about 12 inches from the crack (may need to be more or less than 12 inches, depending on the framing) screw 2x4's wide side facing the back side of the drywall to the remaining drywall and screw the new drywall to the 2x4's. Finish making the joints wide to better blend with the old drywall.
