One wall of my detached garage has wood planks which are weathered and rotting away (and separating). I actually like the look from the exterior, but don't like the holes which can let critters into the garage. What is a good way to seal this up without changing the exterior look? The attached pic shows the issue from the interior.

A thought I had was to use a black house wrap on the inside, in between the studs. Another option would be to wall over the whole inside with plywood, nailing directly into the studs - but I would still need to seal the holes on the exterior so that mice wouldn't make a nest in-between the layers of exterior and interior wall.

Would tar paper over the siding, on the inside of the garage, then plywood over it all, nailing into the studs work? There would be a gap between the tar paper and the plywood.
