We bought a house about 6 months ago and I'm wondering if we should get the foundation checked. We had an inspection before buying and no red flags were raised. However, we've noticed that our front sidewalk slopes toward both the side of the house and the front door. The front door has a problem with latching. You have to push it to lock it and sometimes push it to make sure it closes. On the interior to the left of the front door there is a floor to ceiling hairline crack in the corner. We live in a humid climate and have a vapor barrier and a sump pump in the crawlspace that often comes on during or after it rains. We have yellow clay soil here. Neighbors have French drains, but our house has concrete sidewalks or nothing or some gravel. It's a fairly new house - built in 2008 with an addition in 2016. Is it possible the issues around the door are from normal house settling or likely something more serious? The guy we bought the house from was a contractor who built it, so if there are foundation issues, my guess is he was well aware and did not disclose..ugh. Please advise!
