Not sure if this is the right forum but...

I have purchased 2 - 3/4 HP Craftsman Model 139.53924 openers. The instructions say to attach the Wall Header Bracket 3" above the highest point of the door's travel on the header. My problem: the spring and other mechanisms are in the way if at 3". I have plenty of room above the spring but its at least 6" above the hightest point of the door. Can I place the wall header bracket at the 6" mark as long as I keep the rail assembly level?

Is there a "J" shaped arm that attaches to the door and rides the rail for opening? If so, would that be long enough if you placed the wall bracket at the 6" level? If not, when dragging the door, it might put extra upward pressure on the side roller guide rails as it pulls the door. Also, not sure how it will behave in fully closing the door.

I don't see a technical reason why not. I think you will need to experiment.
