My daughter's bathtub has cracked in 3 places and I need to replace it. Do I need a special tool to turn and remove drain in tub before destroying tub itself to remove. I do not want to damage plumbing under floor by doing it wrong. HELP!!!

There is a tool sold called the "smart dumbell" (oxymoron) This tool is very handy. it fits between the cross pieces of the strainer that you need to remove. Unfortunatley you will not be able to find it at most home centers. Go to a plumbing supply and explain your situation to the counterman. These folks are generally very helpful. Good luck and if you need more help, don't hesiatate to posyt back as to installing the waste and overflow on the new tub, Tom

Thank you, plumber Tom! I knew such a tool existed, just not the name. I'll give it a try. I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again. This is a first for me but how hard can it be? Famous last words!! Ha! Ha!
