getting ready to put up a 59inch tub surround,over wall board.thier will be about 2ft above this surround,the wall board will be exposed,what could i use to put over this wall board,so the water will not run down behind this,or when the water hits over the tub surround the wall board will not crumble or get wet? i know i can caulk above the tub surround,but not fill it in with totally with caulk.i need help.thank you.

We generally do not have a problem with water getting behind the surround from the top. That would be high humidity that would affect all the wall board. You may have installed moisture resistant drywall. You can seal this wall first before applying the adhesive but we usually do not. Most glue on surrounds do not have gaps to fill between them and the wall.

Semi-gloss or gloss paint and caulk at the seams should protect your walls. It's the bottom of the surrounds that cause the problem.
