We have a house built in 1965. We have plumbing problems frequently. The basement toilet is bubbling when the upstairs water is being used. The shower in the basement has started to get a little backed up when the upstairs water is used. We are getting black stuff on the shower floor. Our septic was pumped Nov of 03. My husband thinks it is too soon to get it pumped. We had to replace the baffle and pipe leading to the sess pool in 03. What do you think? I have an appointment with Roto Rooter to pump the tank, but if some draino would do the trick I would like to try that.

I do not believe that Drano would help and it may harm your system. It does sound like you have a clogged main drain pipe to the septic. This can be caused by a full tank. You can pull the tank access cover and look in. You may want to have your husband hold his breath but seeing others face when they smell is kinda neat too.
when i flush the downstairs bathroom and run the washer( which are on the each side of a wall the water comes out of the open drain pipe which currently has a tube in it for the water softner) water gushes out of this pipe, is something clogged. These pipes are relatively close to the main pipe which runs out of the house.I can use the kitchen sink, upstairs bathroom, sink, and tub/shower with no leaking?
