I want to connect a thermostat to a lamp so the lamp will come on when the room temp drops below 50. Can someone tell me how? Thanks.

First off, you would have to purchase a line voltage "cooling" thermostat. They are fairly expensive. Or, this could be done with a line voltage heating thermostat and a relay.

There are commercially made devices that will probably do what you want. They are used in the agricultural industry to warn of low temperatures & will be safer to use than anything you could build.
