I am wiring my house and I have read many books on the subject. I was wondering if it is OK to wire a room as follows:

Bedroom- I have about 8-10 receptacle, at the end of the run, I run a wire from the last outlet to the light switch. Then a wire is ran to the 4 recessed lights in the ceiling.

Basically my quetion is can I wire a room like this? Or would I be better off keeping the lights on a seperate circuit.

Also, Could I pair up the outlets or the recessed lights on one circuit from different rooms?

Thanks for the help!

Your choice, this is a design issue and not a code issue. Howebver, since the 2002 NEC requires arc fault protection for all outlets (including lights & smoke detectors) in a bedroom, you may want to look into what the arc fault breakers will cost you before you run too many circuits into the bedrooms.
