Is there a particular product or kind of soap that will make this job easier? I invested in a good brush and would like to keep it clean and in good shape for future jobs.
Paint Brush Cleaning
I recently painted with Latex paint and had trouble getting the brush totally clean aftwards. I brushed the excess paint onto newspaper first and then I cleaned the brush with water and handsoap.
Always start by dipping a brush in what you clean the paint with, and shake out the excess. When the paint works towards the top of the bristles, stop and clean it to keep the paint from working into the ferrel.
With latex and oil based paints after you clean the brush work in a good (non pumice) waterless hand cleaner and wrap the bristles.
Then clean before use.
Hi Paul in Toronto,
For a few bucks you can get a gadget which will spin excess paint/water out of your brushes and rollers. You attach the brush or roller to one end and lift and push a handle at the other end which makes the item spin releasing the paint.I've found this cuts cleaning time considerably and extends the life of the brush/roller.Ask at a good paint store.
