I have a friend in Jasper, Alabama who is restoring an old 1880-era house. She has done a great job getting the physical structure of the house restored "as it was back then", but doesn't have any ideas on how to do the landscaping-- plant types, layouts, formal garden spaces, etc, as it was done in the 1880's.

If you could direct us to resources here, or on on the Web, to get some ideas for "period" landscaping, we'd be forever grateful.

Thanks,

--Bill

Hi Bill,

She could try the library, and DO talk to the Librarian. He/She may have references to look at. Also, there's the local Preservation Society and the local Historical Society.

My best to ya and hope this helps.

Jay--

This does help, we're checking with the local historical societies, etc. We also want to get as much background info as we can.

This should be a rewarding project.

Thanks,
