I am looking for ideas on redoing my basement stairs that would also look nice for entry. Our side door is the main entry. The entry is shaped like an L. You step into a square area and then the three steps to the right go up and into the kitchen, the other steps go down and into the basement. The original owners of the home has laminate on the stairs. They did not cut and glu but just put one piece from the top of each individual step down to the edge of the step. Needless to say, the curved area on each step is cracking and peeling now and is a disaster.

Because we do use this entry vs our front door it gets ALOT of traffic. We live in the North and contend with snowy winters. I have gone from ideas of carpeting the whole stair area, to laying wood, to just hardwood steps like are in our living area and still cannot settle on anything. There is a large square shoe area built into the wall as you go down the steps and that is nice.

If anyone has any ideas that would look nice, be able to handle traffic, not be slippery in the winter I would love to hear them!
