I've got a post-and-beam home that uses tongue and groove 2x6's with a 1 3/4" space between them for interior walls. Every post I've read regarding pocket doors relates to a standard stud wall construction, where the pocket door frame takes the place of the wood studs. I don't have that ability, so I'm looking at alternatives such as using a closet door mounting system.

Any advice would be appreciated.

The working space for a pocket door is only 2"......with careful workmanship you should be able to adapt the door or the space.....

Also a door and track can be mounted on the "side" of the wall and framed in there.........

Check JOHNSON DOOR for quality pocket door hardware.......
