I recently purchased a GE Under-the-sink dishwasher, model GSM2100GCC, and a 6" deep Elkay sink designed to sit on top of it. The only problem is that my plumber installed a regular sink strainer (the "drain" fixture at the bottom of the sink) that's too deep, and the sink won't fit down flush with the countertop. The instructions say I need a special "shallow" strainer, but neither my plumber, nor anyone else I have spoken with, seems to know what this is or where to find one. If anyone else has had this problem, or has any thoughts, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks

Well Brooklyn is a separate place on earth and things available in Manhattan and Da Bronx and some parts of Queens and SI plumbers can get almost anything BUT Brooklyn plumbers are unique and so are their clients THUS I would never venture across the bridge except under extreme duress.
As long as Chuck Schmuer is from that part of the woods Brooklyn plumbing is going to be much more complicated then the rest of the city of NY.
