I will be installing 5-V crimp metal roofing over my existing roof on my mobile home with a 2 in 12 roof pitch. The 5-V directions do not say to use a bead of silicone caulk in the valley where they overlap. I saw the video on the Bob Vila site, they show a bead of silicone caulk used in each overlaping panel valley as a sealant. Do I need to use the silicone caulk?

2:12 is minimal pitch for a 5V Crimp style of roof. For that reason, I suggest contacting the manufacturer of the roofing and making this inquiry with them.

On low pitch roofs below 3/12 it is typical to use caulk or double facd tape to seal.

But do not use silicone. the thermal coefficient is too different from steel and the movement will break the seal. Use a butyl type cailk instead. I use Geocell.
