I inherited my twin sister's house a few months ago and am nearly overwhelmed with all the repairs it needs! But I'm doing my homework, getting lots of bids and learning as much as I can about this subject because I want the leaky basement fixed RIGHT!

Is it true that an inside drain system would always retain moisture in the drain pipes which would cause the basement to always smell musty? (This is what the OUTSIDE contractor told me!)

Is is true that an outside drain system would eventually fill up with silt? (This is what the INSIDE contractor told me!)

Is it any wonder I'm confused? (I'll answer that one ... YES!)

Thanks for your answer and I'll probably have more questions for ya'!

What is the problem?

What type of drain system are you mentioning?
